Transformers trailer, with a hidden new collaboration between Cudi and Kanye

What a good idea.

Two awesome new commercials for my two favorite sports

Alright so first I saw this new NBA commercial.

Pretty good right?

I thought so, until it got completely blown out of the water by this Guy Ritchie directed Nike soccer commercial. Watch the whole thing. Especially if you like soccer.

Both these items from the blog of inqmnd

Samuel L. is Back as Nick Fury,

Thank God.

BIG PROBLEMS?

I like the Oscars but there is nothing very interesting to say about them

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire, unsurprisingly and totally deserved. That theme music is so good.

Equal rights. Please. Great speech from Sean Penn.

Anthony Hopkins is always scary.

I hope Sean Penn will win best actor, even though Mickey Rourke might have given a better performance. Rourke doesnt need any more awards. DONT WIN ROURKE DONT WIN DONT WIN DONT WIN. WOOOP WOOOP. haha. excellent.

I'm upset that Kate Winslet won best actress, see a couple of posts ago for why. Vanessa sucks. Kate acts surprised every time she wins for this role. Why?! You were the favorite! arrggghhh. Her dad whistling was nice though.

The former winners saying nice things about the nominees is a good model and I think it's worked well.

I love Anne Hathaway and Penelope Cruz.

Meryl Streep is nice.

Do people find Nicole Kidman attractive? I don't.

I like the "man on wire" guy.

At Danny Boyle: Of course the show is bloody wonderful if you're movie is killing it. Not that it doesn't deserve it. I love slumdog.

Hugh Jackman isn't very funny but it's ok because he's wolverine.

I wonder if its awkward for tom cruise when Tina Fey makes fun of scientology.

I wonder if anyone reads this, which is not something I'm supposed to do.

That Paul Newman quote was amazing, does anyone know what movie that was from?

I wish heath ledger had not died. His family's tribute to him was very nice.

Calvin and Hobbes is the best comic ever created.

Three very different videos, all of which are awesome

Ch-ch-ch-check it out. Wow. Ok. First one is Wu-tang on cribs in the single best cribs episode of all time. Stolen from Metal Lungies.

Next up, Conan shooting stuff with Hunter S. Thompson. Apparently Johnny Depp was not exaggerating anything in Fear and Loathing.

And finally a movie I have to see starring Sean Connery, which came out in 1974. This looks to be about the best movie ever. And almost every line in the preview should be sampled in some rap song. From Cracked.com

Alright let's hope those all worked. I'd recommend watching them all. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted them!! :)

I Cannot Wait For Transformers 2

Look, some movies are not that smart. Some movies are not that innovative. Some movies are not going to win oscars, do not have trancendent acting work, and are not that well-directed. But the fact is, these mindless movies can be unbeleivably enjoyable. And the first transformers is probably my favorite mindless movie of all time. And the second one looks even better.

NEW JIM JARMUSCH

Well I'm kind of a poseur, seeing as I've only seen Coffee and Cigarettes, which everyone should watch anyway. But this looks promising.

Republicans declare war on Obama

...according to blogger Andrew Sullivan. Read the piece here. Except for the melodramatic title, it seems to be pretty accurate, as well as pretty depressing. I don't understand how elected officials whose job is to be concerned with the welfare of our country can be so petty.

Natalie Portman is HILARIOUS

So I just started listening to the new Lonely Island CD. And Natalie Portman is on a song called Natalie's rap. And it's absolutely hilarious. And to make it even better I'm pretty sure Dr. Spaceman from 30 Rock is also on the track, albeit in a bit part.

I still can't figure out how to post mp3's but here's the link to the song on youtube. Let me know if you enjoy it.

UPDATE::

Here's the official video, censored. I think the song by itself might be more funny. But its definitely Spaceman.

Batman New ERA's

Someone get me one these jaunts immediately! No joke. They come out this month.

Teaser trailer for Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds

Honestly, this is the movie I'm most excited about seeing this summer but this trailer actually made me a little bit worried for a couple of reasons. The basic plot behind Inglorious Basterds (and yes I'm spelling it right), is that Brad Pitt leads a company of brave Jewish soldiers to kill a bunch of Nazis. How could they screw that up? Well I thought they couldn't, but this admittedly (pretty much) worthless trailer has me a little worried. Firstly, two of the Jewish guys are played by Ryan from The Office and that little dude who thought he was asian from Not Another Teen Movie. Im not sure if these are the perfect characters to play Jews that might strike fear into the hearts of nazis and neo-nazis everywhere. Secondly,I'm starting to worry that watching Jews torture Nazis might not really be all that great, and because as of now the movie does not look half as stylized as I expected it to be it looks as if we might be forced to feel sorry for the Nazis? I'm sure this is all ridiculous and Tarantino will do as good a job as usual. After all, if in the trailer for Death Proof I had only seen the final scene where the girls kick the crap out of Stuntman Mike, I might have ended up feeling sorry for the crazy d-bag. That's why movies>trailers. So hopefully this somewhat underwhelming half-trailer means nothing but we'll just have to see in August. Or at least when the real trailer comes out.

Oh and I got the link from EW's popwatch blog

much too tired to add detail to this post but if you want to see a fuller version of the teaser trailer you can find it here: http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/2009/02/full-inglourious-basterds-trailer-goes.html

F******* Sh*T

the sopranos, uncensored. from victor solomon on Vimeo.

I wouldn't recommend watching every one of the 27 minutes of this but it's entertaining for a minute or so. What exactly do it be? Just every single curse ever uttered in the sopranos. If you ever watched the show it's a nice way to reminisce, if not I guess it could be a fun sort of way to vent some anger? Or not. Just watch two minutes, I promise, it's entertaining. Oh and I got it from the highly esteemed Smoking Section.

Great post on NBA predestination from Straight Bangin'

A wonderful thing to read while in a repetitive lecture on the Victorian era and right after learning about Leibniz's theory of metaphysical predestination. Because it's actually interesting.

Obama doing ok

There's an obvious problem with the image of Obama as messiah as was clear last week with the failure of Daschle. The left-slanting Slate tells us all the good things that have happened here.

Wu Mixtape from The Smoking Section

Haven't listened to this yet, but it's basically a bunch of Wu classics, some remixed stuff and some new stuff. The guy who did the mixtape is Dj Cannon Banyon, not someone I'm familiar with. but here it is.

Oh and those Wu shoes are by alife, they make awesome shoes.
